The Ritual

10 Easy Steps to Answering Any Question!

Have you ever had an answer just on the tip of your tongue? Or a piece of trivia that gnaws at the back of your mind?

Have you ever wondered, “Where are they now?”

Do you want to know how to make them stay?

Have you ever looked up at the stars and wondered how many are out there? Or perhaps, how many are looking back?

Suppose you’ve ever wanted to know something and been utterly and hopelessly unable to find the answer.

In that case, these ten easy steps are for you!

Step 1: Visualize the question

Every answer must begin with a question. That may seem basic, but trust me, part of learning the truth is accepting how little you know. And how much there is to learn.

Is your question simple? Probably not. If it were, you’d simply look the answer up!

Capture your question. Understand every facet. Confront what it means.

Is it keeping you awake at night?

Does it eat you up inside?

Analyze how it makes you feel and hold that emotion tight in your chest as you proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Light the Candles

You will need two navy blue candles. You can find suitable candles at most home decor stores or craft suppliers. Make sure they are NOT scented. That could lead to… unpleasant results.

Choose a room to light the candles. The room choice is essential. It must be roughly in the middle of whatever building you are in. If it is too close to the entrance, this guide will not work!

Turn off the lights in the room you selected. Kneel on the floor with a piece of paper in front of you. Place one candle on each side of the paper. Ensure the candles and the page are in reach, as you need to remain kneeling for the next two steps.

At the stroke of midnight, light the candles using a wooden match. No lighters! It has to be wooden. Both candles must be lit using the same match. If this does not work, you will have to start over from the start of Step 1.

Step 3: Write It Down

Take your perfectly understood question from its place in your heart and write it down on the paper you prepared. The medium you use does not matter. The type of paper does not matter. The language you write in does not matter. All that matters is that you want the answer more than anything else.

After writing the question, use the rest of the remaining space on the page to draw a flower with six petals or a six-pointed star. Whatever the shape, make sure there are six points. The exact design does not matter. All that matters is that you know it is his sign. You will know it is his sign if the only thing you can hear is his name.

Did you not hear his name? That’s okay! Clean up and start again with Step 1 after at least twenty-four hours have passed.

If you hear his name, proceed to Step 4!

Step 4: Put out the Candles

It is time to put out the candles. You must do this by holding your hands flat and putting the flames out with your palms. It is crucial that you do this in one slow motion and without uttering any noise. Once you are left in complete darkness, remain kneeling for twenty minutes. After that time has passed, you will no longer hear his name. You will not remember what his name was. Do not attempt to write his name during this period.

After the allotted time has passed, you may sleep. You will awaken the next morning refreshed. If the page is no longer in the room, your question has been accepted.

If your question was accepted, congratulations!

Proceed to step 5.

Step 5: Collect the Spiders

Begin collecting the spiders.

They will appear throughout the building and must be collected into a single glass jar. It is essential that none are killed, and all need to be found.

They will not hide.

They will not run.

They have come to his call.

You may use any utensil or means to place the spiders in the jar as long as none are killed. However, as an editorial note, you should get used to touching them. It will help with Step 6. You will know you are done when you have seventy-eight in your jar.

Once all the spiders are collected, return to the place where you heard his name.

You can now start Step 6!

Step 6: Consume the Spiders

You must now eat all of the spiders.

This may seem difficult at first, but it gets easier as you proceed. All spiders must be alive when they enter your mouth and dead when swallowed. To ensure this is done correctly, vigorous chewing is recommended.

They will not struggle.

They know their fate.

They have come to his call.

You may drink one cup of water and/or eat one slice of bread to help in the process of consumption. These may be considered another offering. They also make the spiders go down easier.

Once every spider has been consumed, you may prepare for Step 7!

Step 7: Turn Off the Lights

At 11pm, you must turn off every light in your house. We suggest you do this from the point furthest from where you heard his name and work in a spiral towards that room. Otherwise, you will need to return to the room in the dark.

You may feel uneasy. There is no reason to be afraid. You are perfectly safe!

In the spaces between glances.

In the rooms left behind.

He is with you now.

When all the lights are out. When you return to the room. In the spot where you heard his name.

Kneel again and wait for the stroke of midnight.

That’s when you can start Step 8!

Step 8: Ask the Question

In the dark. After midnight has fallen. When you feel his presence behind you. Ask your question out loud.

You may not close your eyes.

You may not leave.

You must wait for a reply.

Step 9: Do Not Turn Around

Do not turn around.

We cannot stress this enough. DO NOT TURN AROUND!

Even if you feel his hot breath on the back of your neck, you have to remain quiet, still, and staring forward into the darkness.

If your question is worthy, you will hear an answer.

Do not be afraid.

The answer is the truth.

Do not let it confuse you.

After you hear the answer, you must remain alert. There will be plenty of time to consider the implications when you are safe.

Ten seconds after you hear the answer, close your eyes, and run!

Do not open your eyes. Feel through the dark. Leave the building as fast as you can!

Do not open your eyes! You cannot risk it. You cannot see him!

When you have made it outside, you may open your eyes, but do not look back towards the doorway. He is there.

He was always there.

He will always be there.

You may never return.

Step 10: Like and Share

If this easy guide worked for you, please like and share. In fact, you are compelled to like and share.

Appreciate this gift. Cherish it, then pass it on to others.

You will need to pass these instructions on to six other people. Of the six, one must not be given Step 9. You can accomplish this in any manner you wish. You may rename this guide to “9 Easy Steps”. You may rewrite Step 9 as you see fit. But you may not tell them they need to run. Do not tell them they may not look upon him.

Knowledge requires sacrifice.

This has been true for as long as we have wondered. For as long as we could formulate a question.

It does not matter if it is an email, a letter, or by spoken word. Mediums are ephemeral. Knowledge is eternal.

He is eternal.

Six may ask.

Six may be answered.

One will remain with him.
